As 2025 comes to a close, Equality Health (EH) is helping practices focus on what matters most—preventive care that changes outcomes. Cervical Cancer Screening (CCS) remains one of the most effective tools to prevent cancer and save lives. Regular screening has cut cervical cancer deaths by more than 50% in the past 30 years. When it’s found early, cervical cancer is highly treatable.
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers and there’s proof that screening works. Working together, we can help providers pave a better health outlook for your member panel into 2026 and beyond.
Why Cervical Cancer Screening Matters
- It prevents cancer before it starts. Pap and HPV tests can detect abnormal cells early so they can be treated before becoming cancer.
- Early detection saves lives. Screening has already reduced cervical cancer deaths by more than half.
- Screening improves equity. Historically marginalized populations face barriers to preventive care. Removing those barriers—through outreach, education, and cultural relevance—closes long-standing gaps in women’s health outcomes.
Screening Guidelines at a Glance
- Ages 21–29: Pap test every three years
- Ages 30–64: Choose one
- Pap test every three years, or
- Primary HPV test every five years, or
- Pap and HPV co-test every five years
- Age 65 and older: May stop screening if prior results are normal—determine together with the patient
- After hysterectomy: If the cervix was removed for a non-cancer reason, screening is typically not needed
New FDA update: Adults 30 and older can now self-collect HPV samples in a clinical setting. This expands access for patients who may be hesitant about traditional exams.
Prioritizing Screenings with CareEmpower’s New Worklist
EH’s CareEmpower platform now includes a 2025 Priority Screenings worklist—a practical, data-driven tool designed to simplify gap closure and support proactive outreach.
With the 2025 Priority Screenings Worklist, your care team can:
- Identify patients due for screening instantly. Filter by screening status, last test date, or population segment.
- Act directly from the Worklist. Schedule appointments, assign outreach, and mark screenings completed—all in one place.
- Track progress in real time. See how your practice is improving screening rates month over month.
- Target outreach for equity. Easily identify and engage patients in under-resourced communities where screening rates are historically lower.
This feature makes it easier to operationalize preventive care—turning data into action that improves outcomes and strengthens value-based performance.
