Equality Health, an Arizona-based organization pioneering health care delivery to underserved and diverse populations, announced it has appointed Tony Astorga to its Strategic Advisory Board. Astorga joins a respected panel of national and local professionals from a broad range of health care sectors and community leaders in aiding Equality Health with strategic planning and consulting.
“A trailblazer in health care and Latino advocacy in Arizona, Tony is a valuable addition to our mission,” said Hugh Lytle, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Equality Health. “Tony’s insights and experience will help guide our innovation efforts, and deepen our connection to the local community, allowing us to continue working toward a new culture of care for vulnerable populations in Arizona.”
Astorga brings more than 30 years of professional experience in health care, business and community activism to Equality Health. He retired in 2011 from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) where he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for 23 years. While in this position, Astorga also served as President of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mexico during 1994-1999. Prior to BCBSAZ, Astorga spent 17 years with local and national CPA firms and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
“Equality Health is driving critical change in the future of care delivery, and I’m eager to be a part of this journey,” said Astorga. “Utilizing my experience in the industry and my connection with the Latino community, I look forward to helping the organization in its effort to impact those in need, beginning right here in Arizona.”
